To go to work on an egg - meaning

    Hello again!

What's the meaning of "to go to work on an egg"? Does it mean going to work after eating an egg first? I think so, but may be wrong.

    Thank you.

You are correct. 'Go to work after eating an egg for breakfast'.

Without context, it is difficult to say. My guess would be this is an informal and somewhat humorous way of saying that he will now eat an egg.

Similar to, "Now I will go to work on that steak."

    Not in this case, Mike.

It was a well-known, long-running advertising slogan over here, as explained in JACEK's link.

Really? That's odd. Over here, it would mean to eat it. +|
