he often visits residents who are in no danger of dying

Does "residents who are in no danger of dying" imply "people who look normal but soon are to die"? It's confusing. The cat wouldn't visit a safe person.

36)Nursing Home Cat Can Sense Death? When a special cat named Oscar visits a resident of the nursing home where he lives, staff members react immediately....Oscar has been observed visiting more than 25 residents a short time before they passed away...Oscar has been living at the nursing home since he was a kitten, and he often visits residents who are in no danger of dying. It is only when Oscar settles in to sleep beside a patient that staff members react and call the dying person's loved ones...

It seems that Oscar does, in fact, visit both those in no danger of dying and those who he, alone it appears, knows are about to die. The "and" (after "kitten") brings up the first option (any resident). Reading on we see that when Oscar sleeps beside a patient, that patient is about to die.

"No danger of dying" means they are not expected to die, they have no terminal condition. Note the distinction: he visits with all kinds of people, but settles in to sleep only with those on their way out.
