    "Gotcha" (i.e. "got you") is an expression used in several ways. One way would be to catch someone in the act of doing something not permitted, but at the same time not very serious, as in the case of a child with his/her hand in the cookie jar.

    In AmE it can also mean "I have understood what you said."
