Is it correct to say that “you are different from most girls I know” refers to a mass of girls whereas “you are different from most of the girls I know” refers to a very limited number of girls”

as in:

Most doctors make a lot of money.

Most of the doctors don't make half as much as a civil engineer.

No differrence, unless a specific group of doctors had been discussed prior to the statement. In that case, a. would be speaking about doctors in general and b. would be talking about a specifically indentified group of doctors.
