which sentence referred is correct?

Both are possible in BrE. You can either think of 'four years' as a singular period of time or as a plural number of years.

"Have" would be most (90%) common in AmE.

"Have" would be most (90%) common in AmE.
That's what I thought. It's just one of those differences between AmE and BrE that seem to worry few people except test-writers in some countries.

I would also use "have" (AmE) but I would not object to "has".
