What do you mean when you say that the Latin stems finis and annus do not exist?

I mean that there are no such words in English.
e.g. wonder - wonderful
The adjective "wonderful" was created by means of the suffix -ful, but its stem "wonder" is an independent word now. But that's not about "annu" and "fin" to say that annual and final were derivated from nouns. So they look like borrowings but still derivatives. :(

I don't get your last posts.
Probus was counting down to his 1,000th post. I sympathise with his desire to get there, but I have deleted the countdown because it was unhelpful in this thread.

First, I'd like to welcome kaaskala to our forum! :hi:
Next, I would like to apologize to kaaskala on behalf of the mentors in UsingEnglish. Probus's quest to reach the 1,000 post benchmark at your expense, and in such a rude and callous manner, is not representative of our membership! Your original post contained a valid question and you should have received a straightforward and respectful answer! Please accept our apology!
Finally, I ask our moderators to close this thread and to repost kaaskala's original post so a proper reply can be offered!

Cheers,

Probus, the original post does not contain the words 'finis' and 'annus'! Where did you get these words?
