how can we say excuse me?

    Hi everyone,

In my culture it's bad to stand or sit in a way so someone is behind you.
When you have to do that for a short time, I mean when you have to stand or sit in a way with someone behind you, what can you say to excuse? Is it natural to say "sorry for my back"?!

Where are you sitting? I'm not sure I understand the situation. People sit in front of people in a theater or on a bus.

If you are standing in the middle of a circle, having a conversation with several people, and there is a person or standing behind you, you could turn and say, "please excuse my back." This would not be necessary if people are sitting in rows on a bus, a train, a theater, etc.
