half-past

I am taking my phonology exam tomorrow.I can not understand one thing.Why is “half-past” pronounced as / ha:past/ ? Why is / f / omitted?

Who told you that? Please don't pronounce "half-past" without the "f". If someone is saying it quickly, the "f" might be hard to hear.

It is an example from a book consisted of transcribed texts. The author is a pofessor of English phonology at some British university.

In BrE the /f/ may be omitted in informal conversation.

It's also commonly omitted in Australia. "Huppast four" = 4.30.
