Set a limit to how many unit a customer can purchase.

I omitted posting these 2 sentences on the previous posting. Below is the question:

    1) Set a limit to how many unit a customer can purchase.
    2) There is a limit on how many unit a customer can purchase.

Should I say to or on? Are the above sentences correct? Please advise.

"On" is best, but "to" is also possible. You need to use the plural "units."
