I, a speaker of BrE and former motorcyclist, use both. 'Motorbike' is slightly more informal.

I hear both in BrE, but would say that motorbike is more common. (Not a motorcyclist)

As a speaker of AmE and also a former biker, I fully agree with 5jj.

Is this true? The term? Yes.
and which one YOU like to use? Regardless of what I like to see/hear, in the U.S. the term "biker" is frequently used to refer to or describe one who rides/drives a motorcycle. The term "bike" might be heard in an exchange between two "bikers" but the term "motorbike" is seldom if ever used to describe/refer to the vehicle itself. A "motorbike" in the U.S. is or was a bicycle with a motor attached. but hardly, if ever, seen these days.
