Default Does capture mean "collect" or "absorb" in this context?

What does capture mean in this context?

Energy from the sun is probably the best form of renewable energy. Scientists believe that the sunís energy will last for another five billion years. This energy can now be captured and stored.
Does it mean "collect" or "absorb" in the previous context?

Collected, yes. Absorbed, I don't think so. Plants have been absorbing solar energy and storing it chemically for several billion years, and this is part of the basis of all life today. The author is clearly referring to something modern rather than ancient, so I think absorbed should be avoided here.

I think the speaker is referring to human technology as a general context. Also, I think "absorbed" is an appropriate word, if the intended audience is non-scientists, or laymen.
