    Default some doubts regarding "take"

    Hi there!Are these sentences all possible and grammartically correct?
    Thanks in advance!


    1-1. It took me hours to get there.
    1-2. It took hours for me to get there.
    2-1. It took me hours to get my hands on it.
    2-2. It took hours for me to get my hands on it.
    2-3. It took them hours for me to get my hands on it.
    3-1. It took the smoke hours to clear.
    3-2. It took hours for the smoke to clear.
    3-3. It took them hours for the smoke to

    Most of them are right - except for the ones marked. It can't take somebody hours for something else to happen.
    You can say, "It took me hours to get a response" but not "It took me hours for him to respond".

    2-3 and 3-3 are wrong. I don't much like 3-1 either.

    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
