    Hi teachers,

Mom beats me. Is it correct or do I have to add an article?

    Sad but true.
Please be aware that I'm neither a native English speaker nor a teacher.

Where would you have added an article?

    Before "mom" as "the/my".

As long as you refer to your own parents you don't use the article, you just say Mom or Dad (use capital letters).

    Re: mom beats me.

However, there is nothing wrong with "My mum/mom/mother beats me". Grammatically, I mean, not morally!

Note that 'my' is not an article. It's a determiner or possessive adjective.
