Forest belongs to a forest in the same way that grass belongs to what?
We were stuck between lawn and field, among the other choices.

The arguments were that it should be lawn because it's not a lawn if it doesn't have grass and by definition, a lawn is a maintained area of land with grass, it should be field because a field is "untamed" like a forest but there were other rebuttals to that like forests can be "tamed", and that there can be cornfields but not "corn lawns".

Are you sure you've quoted the first part of the analogy correctly? It doesn't make sense to me.

I agree with Rover. I suspect that opening should be "Trees belong to a forest as grass belongs to XXXXX. If that is true, I would choose field. A lawn is purposely planted; a field (of grass) is usually not.

Edit:
"Forest belongs to a forest in the same way that grass belongs to what?
We were stuck between lawn and field, among the other choices."

How about meadow?

I prefer field to lawn for the same reason as MikeNewYork.
