    Default condition/state

    Hello,

I would like to find a suitable word (noun) for describing a set of characteristics of a (geo)magnetic field. There are two main words for this: "condition" and "state". Which one do you think fits the context better? The example is as follows:

"The suggested techniques can all be performed automatically and allow estimation of geomagnetic perturbation intensity and the condition/state of a geomagnetic field."

    Thanks

    Default Re: condition/state

They are synonymous in technical/scientific usage.

In terms of connotation, condition tends slightly more towards variability and state more towards stability, but I emphasize that these connotations are everyday usage, not technical.
