    verb after noun clauses

    After noun clauses it is necessary to use the singular form of the verb? Using the plural form is not any time possible?
    Whoever agreed was present.
    The idea that I accept is clear.

    I think the singular is always used, but could you please provide an example or two to clarify your question.

    The people playing at the party were my friends. (But I don't know whether it's a clause or not)
