Translate it into which language? Or did you mean "help me to understand (the structure)"?
Please be aware that I'm neither a native English speaker nor a teacher.

I read it as meaning "I though I had caught you (doing something illegal/not allowed)".
Please be aware that I'm neither a native English speaker nor a teacher.

dsank0, please remember to end every sentence with a single appropriate punctuation mark.
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.

In my experience, this phrase is associated with an attempt to fool or trick someone. If the person does not fall for the ruse, the perpetrator says: I thought I had you there or I almost had you there.
