    Is this sentence grammatically correct?

    He always delved enthusiastically into the problems he faced to ensure they would be overcome.

    Especially, is it fine to write "they would be overcome"?

    It is grammatical, but I think it would be better in the active voice.

    He always delved enthusiastically into the problems he faced to ensure he (would overcome) (overcame) them.
