Default Please clarify the usage of "that" in the sentence

Hello, everyone! I have a question when I am reading the sentence from a passage: "I suggest that the enjoyment of and the capacity to produce musical notes are faculties of indispensable use to mothers and their infants and that it is in the emotional bonds created by the interaction of mother and child that we can discover the evolutionary origins of human music." What does the word "that" refer to? Thank you~

The word "that" doesn't refer to anything in those uses. It is simply a conjunction (function word) to introduce a subordinate clause.

Thank you for your help. Perhaps I did not make my question clear. "I suggest that the enjoyment of and the capacity to produce musical notes are faculties of indispensable use to mothers and their infants and that it is in the emotional bonds created by the interaction of mother and child that we can discover the evolutionary origins of human music" What does the word "it" refer to, does it refer to "the capacity to produce musical notes" or "faculties of indispensable use to mothers and infants"? And what does the sentence "we can discover the evolutionary origins of human music" refer to, "the emotional bonds" or the "interaction of mother and child" ?
