    On Article

    There will be a discussion.

    Discussion is an uncountable noun. Why the article 'a' is put before discussion? Will it be correct to omit the article?

    Discussion is mostly used countably.

    EnglishLearner, your explanation is incorrect. Please be absolutely certain about your answers before posting them. It's not helpful to other learners to keep posting incorrect information or to start lots of posts with "I think". You will find, quite soon, that your responses are deleted by moderators with the note "Unhelpful and incorrect".
    Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.

    "Discussion" is both countable and uncountable.

    We had a discussion yesterday about this topic.
    There has been a lot of discussion about this topic.
