    Not really- they have many uses- time, location, conection, and they don't always follow simple patterns:
    On- time- used for days and dates (On Thursday, on my boirthday, on the 11th of June)
    location- the top surface of something- on the table
    connection- depends on
    It's hard to trace a single definition that accounts for all of this behaviour, and the same is true of most prepositions.

    Narrow things down a bit and we can start lokig in more detail. choose a preposition to look at first- over to you.
