That might sound stupid but if 'To smoke is bad for your health' is completely unacceptable?

I'm not a teacher nor a native speaker, but I'd say "Smoking is bad..."

It is not very natural, but I can't say it is grammatically incorrect.

Thanks. In a multiple choice test it was marked as a wrong answer, I just didn't find it fair.

I'd definitely agree if it did but it doesn't. It specifies that only one answer is grammatically correct that's why I had to double-check.
