    Default hers, who didn't recognize her.

    Does it have to be "but" only? Does it depend on context, varying as "but", "and" or "for"?

    67)She met an old friend of hers, who didn't recognize her.
    = She met an old friend of heres, but he(she) didn't recognize her.

    I don't see how "for" would fit in that sentence.

    I think "and" might work in this context, but I'm not sure. Yes, "for" sounds weird.

    ex)She met an old friend of hers, who(and he(she)) didn't recognize her. It's because it's been almost 30 years since they last met...
