Default zany and others strange words.

    Hello.

Today I have run into with a word "zany". I have never heard it before. I opened my dictionary I got the meaning. I'm not sure whether is this popular word to use or not? I have a plenty of words like this and I think they are rare. So, if they're rare does it mean they sound strange or unnatural?

Moreover, I have a list of "strange words for me". I can show you it and, I hope, you'll say me are they acceptable or not.

    Thanks in advance.

    Boris.

'Zany' is a fairly commonly used and understood word.

You can get an idea of how common or unusual a word is by entering it in the Fraze. It search box (click on the underlined link).

The small or large number of examples it finds is an indication of the frequency with which it is used.

Thanks for a such helpful site. I think you won't get upset if I show you my list (Sure, I'm going to typing my words in the fraze.it search box, but in my list there are many words).
Just say, are they words OK or not. I'll be grateful.

Vocabulary. Do not pay attention to Russian translation!

I agree that people would understand "zany," though it is not probably used every day. Every sitcom has a "zany" character.

'Zany' as an adjective is reasonably current (though I think younger speakers would use 'crazy' or 'off-the-wall' or something).

As a countable noun, zany is definitely archaic. Only historical dramas included a zany (who was 'zany').
