    Default A fire service, a children's playground

I've seen this marked as a mistake by a teacher:
My favourite place is a children's playground.
There is also a fire service in my city.

According to this teacher 'a' should be removed.
I think that both sentences are correct with 'a'.

    What is your opinion?

Both sentences are unnatural without the article. In the first sentence, the definite article is also possible.
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.

I agree with you. The teacher was wrong.
