    lumps of sugar

How many lumps of sugar do you take with your tea?

Is it common for native speakers to use 'a piece of sugar' or 'a cube of sugar' in the above sentence?

    Thanks.

In my experience most people use granulated rather than lump/cube sugar.

When cubed sugar is being offered with tea, the host(ess) will ask 'How many lumps?'
