Question the whole affair stinks of a setup.

Could you please help me to paraphrase this sentence:

the whole affair stinks of a setup.

The sentence is idiomatically correct. If you want to paraphrase it in more "Standard English", I would say:

"This business appears to have been contrived for the purpose of misleading you, or establishing your guilt."
