    being the largest.

By 1864, there were eight neighbourhoods in Mumbai which were home to more than 500 prostitutes. Almost 60 years later, there were only two, with Kamathipura being the largest.

    Please rephrase the last sentence?
    "Being" is gerund or participle?
I want to learn using "being" like this, Please give me some suggestion.
    Thanks

    Re: being the largest.

Do you want to understand the construction or do you want us to rephrase the sentence?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

"Being" is a participle there. It introduces a participial phrase that modifies "Kamathipura".

If you want more examples of participle use, use a search engine to look for pages about participles.
