Hi all. I'm afraid this is one of 'those' posts but I'd really appreciate some advice.

I have to do a demo class for a job and I want to teach modal verbs for deduction in the present and the past, at Upper Intermediate level. Someone better qualified than me suggested this is two grammar points and that I should stick to one, but it seems to be taught this way at this level.

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Best!

Welcome to he forum, Chac Mool.

I assume that you want to be appointed for what you are. If you think that teaching these two points (if indeed they are two separate points) in one lesson is a good idea, then go ahead.

Think how frustrated you would be if you taught what somebody else thought was right and failed to get the job. And, if you did get the job, you would be working in some ways under a deception - you would have got it by teaching something you didn't believe in.
