Default Need advice on Question Word, thanks teacher ^^

    Dear teachers,

I know the correct way to say for the following question is:
    When shall we meet?

    BUT... why can't we say:
    When will we meet?
Would you be able to explain it to me? A million thanks.

Shall is commonly used for first person and will can be used to all.

"Shall" is now almost exclusive to British English. There's little difference between "shall" and "will", so much so that people actually disagree about how "shall" is used. The rule of thumb, mentioned by smelvanzq, is that you say "I shall" and "we shall", but "you will", "he/she/it will" and "they will", but it's actually more complicated than that.

    If in doubt, use "will".

Thanks soooo much for advising, smelvanzq and rewboss.

However, if the answer to the question is:

Let's meet at 7:00 p.m. tonight. I will pick you up at your place.

Which one should I use and Why?

    When shall we meet? OR
    When will we meet?

    Thanks for advising again.

In North America, shall has become the more formal choice. I think it becomes a matter of personal style as to whether you pick will or shall.
