Does "ally" mean "support" in this sentence?

She feld she wanted an ally so much.

When you said "I don't have any context", what did you mean? Did you spot the words "She felt she wanted an ally so much" floating in mid-air? There is always context.

I just have an exercise that sounds "translate the following sentences into your language". It does mean I have no context ;-).

Fair enough but what section was it in? Most textbooks are divided into chapters and have test questions at the end of each chapter which refer to specifically to aspects of the language which have been learnt in that chapter. Was this question in any particular chapter?

No. I just train my translating skills. So, there's no any particular chapter.:)
