Hi,

I've just seen the official trailer of Godzilla movie at YT at this url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiBtiBPRP-Q
And I've heard this sentence at 1:10.
'In 1954... we have awaken something.'

I'm confused because as I know mixed usage of exact date in tha past and Present Perfect is sensless.

Could you explain it to me?

Thanks

The voice says "in 1954 we awakened something".

Hi,

And I[STRIKE]'ve[/STRIKE] heard this sentence at 1:10.
Yes, this is difficult. But you've seen the trailer, and you heard that sentence. At a specific time while watching that trailer (at 1:10), you heard that sentence.
You could also say, "I've just heard this sentence".
Another example:
"I was just outside and I saw a black cat" not "I was just outside and I've seen a black cat", but again you can say, "I've just seen a black cat." The point is that if you nominate a time when you saw or heard something (when you were watching the trailer, or when you went outside) that counts as a specific time for purposes of using the past tense.

@bhaisahab: Oh, I misheard it :)
@Raymott: Well, I made the mistake in the post that I thought I had pointed out in the trailer. Epic fail :)
Thanks a lot!
