Hi... I'm wondering if these pairs have the same meaning or not.
(a) Ann was so smart that she got straight A's.
Ann was smart enough to get straight A's.
(b) Brad was so foolish that he couldn't get an A.
Brad was too foolish to get an A.
There seems to be no argument about pair (b).
But some say the sentences in pair (a) are different in meaning.
If so, what's the difference?
Many thanks !
With a), it strikes me that the first Ann is smarter than the second.
