    Hi all,
What's wrong with "Needing help" and " In need of help"?
    Thank you.

"need" means, want. -ing is not added to verbs like need and want because those kinds of verbs are not actions; they are states of being. They are called stative verbs.

I need you to help me.
I want you to help me.

I needed you to help me.
I wanted you to help me.

I am in need of your help.
I am in want of a better word.

I was in need of you help.
I was in want of a better word.

    :D
