    negative question

    1. Is not David hiding on the hill of Hakilah, which faces Jeshimon? (Quoted from the NIV version of the Bible )
    2. Isn't David hiding on the hill of Hakilah, which faces Jeshimon? (My own sentence)
    3. Is David not hiding on the hill of Hakilah, which faces Jeshimon? (My own sentence)

    4. Does not she understand?
    5. Doesn't she understand?
    6. Does she not understand?
According to Practical English Usage, #4 is a typical mistake, #5 and #6 are correct.
If #4 is incorrect, why is #1 acceptable?
    I need native speakers' help.

    Re: negative question

We don't still write/speak the same way the people who wrote the Bible did.
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.
