Explain me, please, what is the principal difference between the phrases "open area" & "open platform".

I've noticed that "explain me" is a common mistake, so I should enlighten our learners!
"Explain to me" is a correct phrase. :cool:

This phrase is heard so often, so I haven't even thought whether it is right. Thank you for opening my eyes ;-)

In what context do you want to use these phrases?
It is forbidden to leave loaded cars, car and tractor trailers in the garage, as well as in an open areas.

A platform suggests that it is raised up in some way.
(If they can't be in the garage or in the open, where can they be? That might be helpful to include.)

About your qyuestion: As I've understood, they should not be left (unattended) in any of these places.

Then the sign needs to specify "unattended". I assumed that the relevant point was that they were "loaded" and that if they were empty, they could be left in the garage or in the open.
