    More on title

    Dear tdol,

I'll change the title as you suggested.
Could you please kindly tell me if I do need a subtitle, could you please tell me which is the correct way to write it ( I think there is the third choice)?
    1. What novels do readers like
---- On the styles of writing
    2. What novels do readers like?
    -----On the styles of writing
    3. What novels do readers like---- On the styles of writing

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you in advance.

    Jiang

    Re: More on title

It is a question, so 2 would be better.

    Re: More on title

    Dear teachers,

Sorry to bother you with the same question:

The following is the title of a paper published in a journal:

How to improve the present situation of English language teaching in China

My question is why there isn't a question mark? Is it because it begins with "how to.."

Looking forward to hearing form you.

    Thank you in advance.

I could give this answer to your question, dear! .
This is an indirect question. The "how' does not serve as a question word but the whole sentence -which,by the way ,is a secondary interrogative one-is depended on a basic sentence which is probably implied. This might be "Let's find ways how to..."or "Teachers wonder how to...".
