Being king & being a king

Hello teacher! Could you please tell me the differences between "being a king" and "being king" and when to use these.
    Thank you!

Re: Being king & being a king

the indefinite articles are used to indicate membership in a profession, nation, or religion. Eg. He is a teacher. Likewise - Being a teacher (Gerund).

He is a king. Being a king is right.

Re: Being king & being a king

If you say 'being king', you are only thinking about one king and their role. If you say 'being a king', you are thinking in a wider context about royalty and non-royals.
