    phrasal verbs

I have a question. Is there a rule about the phrasal verbs or do we have to memory the verb and the preposition that comes after it? Thanks for your answers.

    Re: phrasal verbs

There are some attemtps to synthesise patterns, like 'up' can carry a direction or a sense of completion, but it's largely a matter of memory, I'm afraid.
