Hy Guys...
Let's discuss together about Computer-Mediated Communication:)

Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) is transforming the way people communicate in modern society. For examples: Email, instant messaging, chat rooms, facebook, etc. Computer-Mediated Communication has changed the way people keep in touch and begin new relationships. Computer-Mediated Communication takes place in work relationships. The class meets in a networked computer lab, and students communicate through writing rather than through talking. Students type in their messages and hit a key to instantly send the message to the rest of the class. All the messages are listed chronologically on the top half of the screen and can be easily scrolled through and re-read. The entire session can later be saved and passed on to students.

So...I have question, and please share information to me..!!
What are the aspects of CMC that we as educators need to know in order to incorporate CMC for English learning in our classroom?

The language of IM has distinct features- are you planning on teaching those, or would you expect the learners to write in normal English?

What is Computer-Mediated Communication?

Computer-mediated communication (CMC) has been defined as "synchronous or asynchronous electronic mail and computer conferencing, by which senders encode in text messages that are relayed from senders' computers to receivers (Walther, 1992, p. 52). CMC has also been described as "any communication patterns mediated through the computer" (Metz, 1992, p. 3).

MY OPINION :

In general, the nature of CMC brings with it great possibilities for both learners and teachers to experience reinforced learning as well as an opportunity to produce syntactically complex language.

One aspect of using CMC in English classrooms is to increase students desire to express oneself in the target language because the computer seems to decrease the problems & difficulties students have faced in a learning a foreign language.

Then students' level in learning English will improve in the 4 language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) by using CMC in the classrooms.
