    Post History

    I think we should always use " The " before the word " History " : The history
    But all of the people in America don't think so. For example:
    They say : That man is the greatest inventor "in history" _ not "In the history"
    Can you explain this problem to me ?

    Use specific "the" or non-specific "a" to define the word history, like this,

    What kind of history?
    EX: The history of ancient times.
    EX: She and I have a (kind of) history together.
    EX: What's the history on that?
    EX: The biggest find in the history of humankind.
