    stuff of legends

    Which is correct:

1-His life was stuff of legends.
2-His life was the stuff of legends.

What does it mean exactly? That they used the true story of his life to fabricate legends or that the true story of his life was itself like legends or was co;posed of stories which were like legends?

    Re: stuff of legends

#2 is correct - "His life was the stuff of legends." It means that his true life story was so amazing or unbelievable that is was something that one would usually only read about in novels or see in movies.
