If somebody is good to you that means he did something nice for you. We wouldn't normally think of vegetables that way.

Yes, except say: "Vegetables are good for you." (Plural subject, plural verb.)

But fruit (uncountable) IS good for you. ;-)

But watch the verb to be is (3th pers. sing.) => aren't they? (3th pers. plu.).
