    Default Signing Off

    Hi,

If I am writing an email to a respectable company and/or person, I prefer to remain professional and sign off with 'Yours sincerely'.

Is it okay to use 'Yours sincerely' in email? I like to remain professional in emails and that is why I write it, or 'Yours faithfully'.

    Best wishes,

    Iain.

Thank you for your reply, Red5.

Is the letter example for the US, the UK or both?

    Best wishes,

    Iain.

It was written from a UK perspective. I'm not sure whether there are US differences. Someone else will be able to help you better (I'm not a teacher).

    Regards,

In the US, business letters are usually signed with "Sincerely," or "Sincerely yours" or sometimes "Very truly yours."

When writing a formal email, I treat it the same way as a formal letter, and use sincerely/faithfully.
