    modals "may"

    Hello,

    I know that "He may have done it" is the correct form but what about "it may be that he did/has done it" ?

    "It may be that he did it." Expletive constructions - it or there plus a form of be - delays the subject and adds extra words. "He may have done it" is more consise.
