A lion is circling our car and I alerted others:

Maybe if we just stay really really still it will go away.

VS

Maybe if we just stayed really really still it will go away.

Are both okay?

The second one needs "would" instead of "will".

This is a real and not hypothetical situation, so the present tense (type 1conditional) is more appropriate.

Ted, this is yet another example of a reply which should begin or end with in my opinion.

I have never claimed that what I have been posting is anything other than my own opinions.

In my humble opinion, the situation is hypothetical instead of being real, because the speaker uses 'Maybe', which suggests uncertainty.

Many members do not notice the signature line under a post.
That's why I had often said 'but I am not a teacher' in my posts until Rover_KE told me to move it onto my signature line.

I did not tell you to do it. My exact words were

Have you noticed tedmc's signature line?

If you did the same or wrote something similar, you wouldn't have to type 'but I am not a teacher' every time you post.

But bear in mind that when a new user is sorting out their personal forum settings, one of the options is to not see signature lines. I assume it's to save space on mobile devices but if they tick that box, they won't see any signatures on any device.

A lion is circling our car and I alerted others:
In my humble opinion, the tenses do not agree. I would say 'Assuming that a lion is circling around our car and I alert others', but I am not a teacher.

I did not tell you to do it.
OK, I have just put it back to my posts and removed my signature line.
