Hi Hello! I wanted to ask whether we should use "has" or "Have" in this sentence, and why?

The sentence is: "There has to be more to it than that" or "There have to be more to it than that" ?

And why?

I would use "has". In my opinion "more to it" is singular.

More is uncountable (unless there is a number qualifier), so the singular is used.

Thus: "There has to be more to it than that" or "There have to be three more around here somewhere"

'There has to be another.'

'There have to be others.'
