Hi there!
Would you please explain the meaning of "shoutout for shoutout" in the following sentence?

"Would you be interested in shoutout for shoutout?"

And what if it was "shout out for a shoutout"? I searched this one on Google and found some results for.

Thanks in advance!

Where did you find that very strange sentence?

In the first case, we just talked about a film and told its name. And the interlocutor said that sentence in response.

And, I found the second one when searching for the first statement on Google. For example, please check this link.

Just because you put something on a mug or tee-shirt that doesn't mean it makes sense.

I'd like to make an attempt to guess the meaning of this strange phrase. Personally, I think it's like a command to shout out but there's no any particular reason to do that. You just shout out simply because you want to shout out, attract attention to yourself, to be loud or something like that. Thus you shout out in order to make a shoutout. I can see how people nowadays use phrases like this one in their statuses in Google+ or Twitter or Facebook etc.

In current American slang, a shout-out is a public recognition of something. If I bring attention to someone else's shout-out, I suppose my act could be a shout-out for a shout-out.

Thank you all for collaborating on the topic.
I searched more and I found that this is a common phrase on Instagram, sometimes abbreviated as s4s:

"s4s
On Instagram you may get a comment saying s4s? Meaning Shoutout for shoutout, a shoutout is when you promote an account to your followers.
Instagam

User1*: s4s?
User2*: Sure, you first."

Hello, Ali Hsn:

As another poster said, "shoutout" is just a "cool" word for a compliment.

For example:

I recently went to a supermarket to buy some groceries.

When the cashier handed me my receipt, she said, "Be sure to give me a shoutout."

I went home, went to the website indicated on the receipt, and really praised her for always being so friendly and courteous. She actually seems to enjoy her job and appreciates having a job!

When I returned a few days later, I told her: "I gave you a shoutout." (I am 78 years old, but it's fun to occasionally use "cool" talk. Of course, it wouldn't be appropriate for an elderly person to use words like "dude" or " 'sup? " [What's up?]!)
