Default What kind of curriculum is suitable for an EFL school?

    This is the case:
In a Chinese section school, English is taught in an integrated curriculum within 4 to 5 lessons a week. Each lesson takes 40 minutes. The objective of this curriculum is to let students acquire the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), especially in speaking.
How can the school design a suitable curriculum for students to acquire the speaking skills well in just 4 to 5 lessons a week?

My advice would be to find a textbook that houses all four areas, but one that places primary focus on speaking and listening. You could also re-interpret a textbook you have by changing the writing and reading sections into speaking and listening activities. These days, textbooks provide curriculum-like outlines in their index page(s). The pages state the topic each unit will cover, the kind of vocabulary needed, the langauage targets to be learned, and so on. Some textbooks also provide unit tests and final exams. If anything, it's a start. Check out your local or online bookstores.
