What is the meaning of ASSUME in the following sentence?

    Hi everyone,

What is the meaning of assume in the following sentence?

These high yearly total costs assumethat the complaints of glass defects visible after the washing machine cover only 50% of the total complaint rate and that the Average complaint costs per glass unit range between USD 50-70 .

    Thanks and best regards

    Richard

Re: What is the meaning of ASSUME in the following sentence?

They calculate the costs using the figures given in the second part, but the verb 'assume' and the adjective 'high' suggest that the calculations are probably inaccurate because the figures don't reflect the situation accurately.
